How to operate a Fire Extinguisher.

How to use/ operate a fire extinguisher.
  1. Remove the fire extinguisher from the wall bracket.
  2. Hold the extinguisher firmly on the ground.
  3. Pull out the safety pin / lock.
  4. Hold the hose aiming at the base of the fire.
  5. Squeeze the upper lever of the handle
  6. Sweep / swing the hose until the fire is extinguished.

The steps are summaries to PASS which can be easily remembered.

Parts of a Fire Extinguisher

A fire extinguisher contains the following parts;
  1. Tube - Contains the chemical and the pressure
  2. Handle / Levers - To carry and operate the fire extinguisher.
  3. Safety pin / Lock - To keep the extinguisher safe before use. 
  4. Pressure gauge - To show if the extinguisher is has been used or not
  5. Nossle / Hose/ Discharge - used to spread the chemical
